The Connected Home returns for a second episode, continuing our conversations on how thoughtful technology shapes the way a luxury home is designed, built and lived in.
In Episode 2, our Partner Chris Thorne is joined by Mark Hailey, Construction Director at Knowles Construction, to talk about what it takes to deliver a client's vision on site, and what happens after the doors close.

Getting the right people in the room early
The conversation opens on early engagement. When designers, contractors and specialist trades are brought together at the outset, coordination problems are resolved on paper rather than on site, and the client's vision survives the journey from concept to completion intact. Leave it late and the compromises start stacking up.

Aftercare is not an afterthought
From there the discussion turns to what happens once a house is finished. Mark makes the case that the team who built the house, and installed the systems within it, are the right people to look after it. That continuity of knowledge is difficult to replicate and impossible to hand over in a manual.
For all of our clients, aftercare is just as important, if not more important, than getting the house finished in the first place.
